About Us

Montessori Academy of Slidell is an independent Montessori school committed to academic excellence, purposeful learning, and the development of the whole child. Guided by the educational philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, the school provides a carefully structured environment that supports children during critical stages of cognitive, social, and emotional development.

Montessori Academy of Slidell opened its doors on May 5, 2020, during a time of unprecedented uncertainty in education. As schools across the country faced closures and disruptions, the need for stable, high-quality, in-person learning environments became increasingly clear. Our founding was rooted in the belief that children benefit profoundly from consistency, meaningful human connection, and hands-on educational experiences—especially during times of challenge.

From its beginning, the school was intentionally designed to provide a calm, structured, and developmentally appropriate environment where children could learn, grow, and thrive through face-to-face interaction and purposeful work.

Educational Approach

Montessori education is grounded in research-based principles of child development and emphasizes active learning, concentration, and mastery. At Montessori Academy of Slidell, students engage in purposeful work that promotes:

  • Individualized academic progression

  • Order, structure, and consistency within the learning environment

  • Hands-on exploration using scientifically designed Montessori materials

  • Multi-age classrooms that encourage collaboration, leadership, and accountability

  • The development of executive functioning skills, including focus, organization, and responsibility

Academic instruction spans language, mathematics, science, cultural studies, and practical life, forming a comprehensive and cohesive educational foundation.

Learning Environment

Our classrooms are intentionally prepared to support independence, concentration, and respect. Children are given the freedom to choose meaningful work within clearly defined limits, fostering intrinsic motivation and sustained engagement. Grace, courtesy, and respectful communication are embedded throughout daily practice.

Partnership with Families

Montessori Academy of Slidell values a strong partnership with families and recognizes parents as essential collaborators in a child’s education. The school is committed to open communication, shared expectations, and a unified approach to supporting each child’s academic and personal development.
